AgroFresh Inc. makes and markets the flagship SmartFreshSM Quality
System, which helps maintain the just-harvested
quality and freshness of fruits and vegetables. We also make
EthylBloc™ technology, which is used by the floral industry
to maintain the freshness, quality and beauty of fresh-cut
flowers and potted and bedding plants.
The science behind these
patented freshness and quality protection tools was discovered
by respected researchers at North Carolina
State University who studied the natural ripening process
of apples at this leading American agriculture university in
the
1990s. Founded in 1999, AgroFresh acquired the resulting
technology, called 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) technology,
refined and
marketed it as the SmartFresh Quality System, and continue
to pioneer cutting-edge commercial applications for it.
To
help us succeed in achieving our vision, AgroFresh maintains
an active presence in many fruit, vegetable and floral–producing
regions throughout the world. Currently, AgroFresh has capabilities
and on-the-ground teams in North America, South America,
New Zealand/Australia, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Africa.
AgroFresh is headquartered and conducts many of our commercial
and research activities at our technical center near Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, in the United States. Our research and development
specialists collaborate closely with recognized experts
at universities and institutions around the globe to ensure
that we will continue to provide our produce and floral
industry
partners with the best ethylene management systems available
worldwide.
