AgroFresh Uses "The Force" of Innovative Hologram Technology to Tell the Story of SmartFresh at PMA

November 2005, Springhouse PA -- "Cool it is!" visitors to SmartFresh booth number 217 at the Produce Marketing Association's Fresh Summit gathering are likely to say this year. But while the innovative show display will have the feel of a Star Wars intergalactic communication, it's the future of fresh produce on earth that is the real message. AgroFresh, maker of SmartFresh, the breakthrough technology that maintains the freshness, flavor and appearance of fresh produce so consumers can enjoy better tasting, high quality produce all year long, has commissioned a custom image hologram for its 2005 exhibit. Lifelike 3-dimensional pictures of the positive impact SmartFresh has on fresh fruits and vegetables, made with lasers, will bring a compelling story to convention goers – up close and personal.

The large format three-dimensional imaging technique is particularly effective for telling the SmartFresh success story. A breakthrough in fruit storage and shipping technology, over 23 countries around the globe now recognize SmartFresh as an effective produce quality system.
In addition to expanding worldwide, AgroFresh is also moving into new produce segments with SmartFresh. First introduced to extend the just-picked crunch, juiciness and tastiness of apples, the company's flagship product is rapidly expanding beyond apples to other crops and is already seeing excellent results with melons, bananas and tomatoes.

The hologram creates a virtual produce stand with everything your eyes see in real life -- depth, size, shape, texture, and relative position – from many points of view. Having all these dimensions, the fruits and vegetables featured looks so real that you are tempted to reach out and take a bite.

AgroFresh Vice President of the America's Raphael Crawford believes the hologram will attract show-goers who have not yet discovered SmartFresh as a quality management tool. "Because SmartFresh safely puts the ripening process “on hold” – by managing internal and external ethylene sources – our product is a truly unique and beneficial management tool," says Crawford. “We’re a young and growing company and still need to get the word out. Creating buzz to draw traffic to the booth is a big piece of the puzzle.”

Large scale studies show that SmartFresh is the most effective and efficient approach to maintaining the quality of fresh produce over time. Robin Sprague, global communications manager for AgroFresh, echoes Crawford's take on the holographic display.
